Bread
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the bowl and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
- Allow to cool before slicing.
